| Free summer fun program offered |
The 2008 Penquis Summer Fun Program runs through August 7 and offers fun team building activities, community service opportunities and field trips for 13 to 15 year olds in Piscataquis County. The program is free and meets at the Penquis office in Dover-Foxcroft on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:30pm. Snacks and drinks are provided.
Applications are available at the Penquis office at 50 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft or at www.penquis.org. For more information, call Penquis at 564-7116. The Penquis Young Entrepreneurs' Society After-School and Summer Fun Program is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Quilt ShowThe Moosehead Quilters will be hosting their annual Quilt Show. Occurring on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. View the many beautiful quilts. The show will also feature a quilt raffle, silent auction & a door prize.

Maynard's In Maine in Rockwood will be hosting their Annual Cystic Fibrosis Family Fun Day. The fun begins at noon with games and entertainment for the entire family. A Pig Roast BBQ will be held at approximately 5 p.m. with donations of $10 for adults and children under 12, $5. All proceeds go to the Northern New England Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis for CF Research

International Seaplane Fly-In
The Fly-In occurs the weekend after Labor Day. The weekend consists of Float Plane competitions, educational exhibits, the Moosehead Lake Region’s largest craft fair, lots of food and much more. Land and float plane pilots from all over the country and world fly to our waters to enjoy this yearly tradition at Moosehead.

The American Legion Post #94 will be having on of their delicious pancake breakfasts at the American Legion Hall, Pritham Ave. Greenville at 7 a.m. The breakfast will consist of pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, freshly made donuts, juice, milk & coffee. Camden National Moose on the Run
On the Sunday of each Columbus Day weekend, runners from near and far will line up and compete with each other and the landscape. Always a great time, with nice views of Moosehead Lake, and some good competition, along the way!

The WomanCare, the local domestic violence project in Piscataquis county, is offering a free legal consultation with a lawyer from the PenQuis law project on Wednesdays from 9am – 12pm at the WomanCare office and on the last Wednesday of the month in Greenville at the C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital.
This free consultation is for WomanCare clients dealing with legal issues that pertain to family matters (divorce, parental rights & responsibilities, post judgment motions) and protection from abuse orders. The Resource Development Center at Penquis Community Action Program is accepting applications for the voucher program to help income-eligible families that are working or going to school pay for child care expenses. These vouchers can be used in a variety of childcare settings, including Family Child Care, Child Care Centers and Friend or Relative Child Care, if the caregiver passes the state background checks. Families of two can earn up to $33,770 and a family of four can earn up to $49,661 to qualify for child care assistance.
